Why become an egg donor?

There are an increasing number of women who for many reasons cannot conceive and need an egg donor. Unfortunately many women never get the opportunity to undertake treatment due to a shortage of egg donors. Egg donors help to treat women who can no longer produce their own eggs. It may be that they have lost their ovaries due to cancer, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery or that they are suffering from an early menopause.

Is Egg donation right for me?

You can become an egg donor if you are fit and healthy , between 18-35 years. It is important that your periods are regular and normal as this indicates that hormone levels are within normal range. Also you must be of a healthy weight and Body mass index (BMI) and have no known history of infertility within your family.

The procedure of egg collection would take place in a HFEA regulated clinic of your choice. The process would include counselling, infection and health screens. You would be required to take medication to stimulate the production of eggs. the procedure involves lightly invasive surgery to collect the eggs.

The birth mother retains all the legal rights to the child, it is advisable however to have a legal contract setting out any agreements if any for future contact of the donor with the child.
